Swing the Fly Online Journal

Vol. 25. Issue I.

We were listening. Over the fire at camp. Sharing a whiskey on the side. Rushing gourmet grilled cheese in the pouring rain (we’ll miss you, Richard.)

You wanted something to look forward to. To sit with. To take pride in. The Online Journal isn’t made to be more noise; we hope it’s more than another thing you scroll through. The Online Journal is a place to slow down, turn down the volume, to celebrate friends and family, honor our encounters with wild fish, and reflect on the wild places they take us.

About Volume 25 Issue I: From The Editor – May 7th, 2025.

More than a year in the making, Zack and I are proud to bring you the first edition of the revived Swing The Fly Online Journal.

This quarterly publication, which we hope becomes a snapshot of a moment in time, is our effort to bring a literary-but-not-quite-academic quality to the discussions of our shared experiences, skills, and the dynamic connections between human communities and aquatic populations.

So have it, hold it, read a few now and save the rest for later. Tell a friend. Let us know what you think.

It is the first. This is a work in progress and it will continue to improve, but please know, we hope you enjoy, deeply and fully.

Cheers to the brown-up, the return of salmon and summer steelhead, dry lines, small flies, and big casts.

Good luck. We’ll see you out there.
