Welcome to Issue 26.2

Bob Dylan famously refuses to explain his music or lyrics, viewing songs as living experiences meant to be felt rather than riddles to be solved. He maintains that if a song moves you, that is all that matters, and has stated that over-analyzing lyrics ruins their organic magic.

We’re proud to feel the same way.

That said, we did a lot of thinking about the theme of this latest issue of Swing The Fly.

At first, we anticipated it being easy. Trout Spey? But, what does that even mean? Are these all even about trout? Someone will write about a char, or maybe someone is swinging a fly in pursuit of a non-salmonid (gasp). We considered focusing on resident fish types, but big sea trout and the teensiest sea run cutthroat are just too damn fun!

For what it’s worth, the stories in our second issue of 2026 either focus on or relate to fish that are actively eating.

That’s about all we feel obligated to explain. The rest is definitely the meaningful and usually the fun part.

We hope you enjoy this issue, that you have a wonderful fish/fishing/river-time filled summer, and we’re excited to see you for Issue 26.3 this fall.

Thanks for supporting Swing The Fly! Good luck, and we’ll see you out there.
